چکیده

We use the SU(3) x SU(2) x U(1) renormalization group equations to constrain fermion masses and charged-scalar couplings in two-Higgs grand unified theories. We find upper bounds on the sum of all quark (or lepton) masses and show that the Cabibbo mixings of heavy quarks tend to be small. We bound the vacuum expectation values of the Higgs fields, and use these limits to place strong restrictions on the couplings of the charged Higgs scalar.

Renormalization-group constraints in supersymmetric theories.

Supersymmetric theories provide a promising framework for the solution of the fine-tuning and gaugehierarchy problems. ' They are the only known theories where elementary scalars are naturally light. The lightness of the Higgs boson can be understood if supersymmetry remains unbroken down to the weak scale M~. In spite of their enlarged symmetry, supersymmetric theories fail to provide any new ...

One-loop renormalization group equations of the neutrino mass matrix in the triplet seesaw model

Within the framework of the standard model plus one heavy Higgs triplet, we derive a full set of one-loop renormalization group equations of the neutrino mass matrix and Higgs couplings in both full and effective theories. The explicit RGEs of neutrino masses, flavor mixing angles and CP-violating phases are also obtained, and their non-trivial running behaviors around the Higgs triplet mass th...

Multiplicative BRST renormalization of the SU(2) Higgs model.

We reformulate the proof of the renormalization of a spontaneously broken gauge theory by multiplicatively renormalizing the vacuum expectation value of the Higgs field in the SU(2) Higgs model. After BRST symmetry was discovered [1], it was noted that the renormalization of gauge theories [2] can be simplified by using BRST methods. In [3] Becchi, Rouet and Stora considered the SU(2) Higgs mod...

Constraints among Coupling Constants in Noncommutative Geometry Models

We study constraints among coupling constants of the standard model obtained in the noncommutative geometry (NCG) method. First, we analyze the evolution of the Higgs boson mass under the renormalization group by adopting the idea of Álvarez et al. For this analysis we derive two certain constraints by modifying Connes’s way of constructing the standard model. Next, we find renormalization grou...

New gauge for computing effective potentials in spontaneously broken gauge theories.

A new class of renormalizable gauges is introduced that is particularly well suited to compute effective potentials in spontaneously broken gauge theories. It allows one to keep free gauge parameters when computing the effective potential from vacuum graphs or tadpoles without encountering mixed propagators of would-be-Goldstone bosons and longitudinal modes of the gauge field. As an illustrati...
